Eriko Horiki

Washi Innovator

Eriko Horiki, born in Kyoto, Japan in 1962, uses Washi paper (traditional Japanese paper; basic sheet size of 2700 x 2100mm) to create lively pieces of artwork used to decorate interior spaces. She established "SHIMUS”, which originates from WASHI (Japanese paper) + MUSUBU (to link/connect/bring together). The name symbolizes the wish of the group to link paper with different materials, connect it with lighting, and use it as a medium for bringing people together.
